Staff Professional Résumé

Mike Roscoe

Mike has become, over his long career, one of the statesmen of the casting industry: a person whose eye and ear for talent are a valued and trusted commodity. More than one client has said, "Give me a full days casting and send me a reel of the five best." With the return of the cattle call, Mike's solid judgment and consistent gifted vision are the antidote to casting sessions that are needlessly large and unfocused.

Starting as an actor, Mike soon became successful and appeared in over 200 television commercials and booked numerous television roles in New York City. Mike moved behind the camera after his performing career, because he saw an opportunity to recast the way casting was done. Opening the Michael Roscoe Talent Agency he began an era of work which was as helpful to performers as it was to producers and directors. His work did not go unnoticed. Seven years later he was selected by Norman, Craig and Kummel Advertising to become their head of casting. When the agency was bought out, Mike opened his doors again, and has been solving talent challenges ever since.

His accounts include: QE2, Estes Lauder, Sports Illustrated, Pathmark, New York Telephone, New England Telephone, Sharp, Panasonic, Price Chopper, Crest, Combat, Sensodyne, Chemical Bank, The Discovery Channel, The Limited, New York State Department of Health, Scalpicin, Johnson's Foot Soap, Heiriekin Beer, Reader's Digest, Easy Spirit Shoes, Tonka Toys, and the list goes on. He has also cast international accounts for clients in Italy, Japan, Spain, and Germany.

Mike's concern for talent has earned him the reputation of a casting connoisseur. By getting the performer to clearly understand the role, and by creating the right atmosphere in the casting session, he is able to get the best. His gift is and always has been finding the right "type." And it is his integrity that has led production teams to feel relieved when he goes to work.

For the performer, Mike has always been a teacher and mentor. His insight and ability to see what an actor needs to improve make him one of the preeminent resources in the business. He enjoys an impeccable reputation that has been earned by dealing in truth and in delivering what is promised with gifted consistency. His favorite expression is: "I am going to tell you what you should hear, not what you want to hear."
